Here’s a single of a really final pure-Groucho performances upon film. It’s from a 1947 low-pitched humerous entertainment Copacabana co-starring Carmen Miranda.

“You can cut a calf in half and make baloney!”
Interesting, but not good for a sing-a-long like Groucho’s/Ruby’s other tunes.
Me encanta del 2:08 al 2:12 jajajajaaj.
I love you Groucho!
So entertaining. This Groucho guy was the funniest man on earth.
,,,and words & music by Bert Kalmar & (Groucho’s best-friend) Harry Ruby. We miss you, Harry! R.J.
If you who haven’t seen this whole movie, you’re lucky! But in this one inspired spot, Lionel Devereaux, an agent (played by Groucho Marx), foists his latest prospect on the Copa’s manager (Steve Cochrane) and secretary (Gloria Jean). “Bring him for an audition,” the manager says, adding, “Anything’s better than listening to you.” To the manager’s horror, the prospect (Groucho) promptly appears on stage, sneakily bypassing the audition. The song goes on, and the manager’s impressed in the end.
Fine song from a poor picture. One line change: “If you can’t get a seat on a subway, go west, young man!” was (at least on one radio version), “If it’s true what they say about Dixie, go west, young man!” Guess they didn’t want to offend southern audiences.
Millions of thanks for this piece! Got a good laugh, especially somewhere after three minutes… Was that high “C” or vitamin “D” ?
